Tea Tree Oil
                                                                                                                                                                       INCI:Melaleuca alternifolia

Melaleuca alternifolia, commonly known as Narrow-leaved Paperbark, Narrow-leaved Tea-tree, Narrow-leaved Ti-tree, or Snow-in-summer, is a species of tree or tall shrub in the plant genus Melaleuca. Native to Australia, it occurs on the north coast and adjacent ranges of New South Wales. Tea tree oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of Melaleuca Alternifolia. Carried by all Australian Soldiers.

Tea tree oil (melaleuca oil), a topical antibacterial and antifungal used in a range of products including antiseptics, deodorants, shampoos and soaps. This plant is commonly used as a herbal lotion.

Tea tree oil is purported to have antiseptic properties, and has been used traditionally to prevent and treat infections. Human studies have focused on the use of topical tea tree oil for fungal infections (including onychomycosis and tinea pedis), acne, and vaginal infections.

Tea tree oil should be avoided orally, as reports of toxicity after oral ingestion have been published. When used topically, tea tree oil can be mildly irritating, and has been associated with the development of allergic contact dermatitis, which may limit its potential as a topical agent for some patients.

Tea Tree has a very strong and medicinal smelling, spicy-camphorous and warm aroma. This essential oil is NOT for internal use.

. Tea tree oil has been recognized as a potent antiseptic, and antifungal agent.
It is used in the treatment of moderate acne.
Tea tree oil is also effective for treating insect bites, boils and minor wounds.
It has also been known to help soothe sunburns, burns, poison ivy, ear infections, and bee stings.

By incorporating it in Shea Butter it seems to be more effective, since shea butter soaks into the skin. Tea Tree is not fast absorbing and tends to “sit” on the outside layer of skin.

First Aide in a Jar -
My original name for this product was First Aide in a Jar. Many of the uses listed below, we have
first-hand knowledge and experience. Living in a mosquito infested area not a day goes by that we
do not open that jar!
I wanted to let you know that I used the First Aid In A Jar on my sunburned (red) back and it has not hurt or blistered to date. I was burned two days ago. I normally wear a number 70 sunblock. I was only going to work in the yard for a short time early in the morning so I skipped the sun block. I ended up staying out longer than I planned.  I'm so glad I had your cream on hand.

I can't believe how great this product is! It stops my mosquito bite itching almost instantly. Recently I mashed my finger and put your first aide cream on as soon as I could. I couldn't believe it, but the next day there was no soreness!
Thanks for making this wonderful cream
Janet
